Five Key Industries that Benefit from our Electric Tug Solutions

For any business, pinpointing ways to improve efficiency is key. Streamlining operations is an important way to grow your business’s bottom line. Change and improvement remain constants for companies that challenge the notion that “this is the way we’ve always done it.” If moving heavy equipment, materials or carts is a daily task for your business, one actionable way to boost productivity (and employee safety) is to invest in a walk behind electric tug. From manufacturing operations to luxury condos – hospitals to auto repair shops, if you’re moving something heavy, we have an electric solution to help move loads more efficiently. Here are five of the unique industries our hand-tailored products serve:

Industrial/Material Handling

For many manufacturing or distribution environments, manually pushing and pulling are two common actions that place heavy strain on the body and can result in injury. Our specialized industrial cart movers take the load off of employees; allowing one person to easily maneuver carts or heavy equipment from point A to point B. Here’s how Allen Engineering utilizes our electric CartCaddy 5WP to move a large piece of equipment out on the assembly floor:

Dumpster Movers

Who are our dumpster tows best suited for? Most frequently, apartment complexes, commercial properties, multi and single-family housing, as well as restaurants and retail shops use our WasteCaddy products to relocate heavy trash containers from trash room to curbside for pick up. Our trash container movers allow one person to safely and efficiently relocate these bins over a variety of surfaces – even up inclines and on snow, sleet, ice or rain, without risking injury from strains or falls from manually moving the bins by hand. Watch how Pearl Flagler Village Apartments uses a WasteCaddy to save time & effort.

Trailer Movers

Manufacturing operations and distribution centers utilize our heavy-duty TrailerCaddy products to allow one person – no CDL required – to move loaded or unloaded trailers up to 100K lbs. around their lots, or in and out of dock doors. Additionally, trailer or RV storage and sales facilities use our trailer movers to relocate RVs on their lots or on showroom floors. Watch the video below to see why Quality Bicycle Products prefers the TrailerCaddy over an expensive yard truck.

Car & Heavy Truck Movers

Most commonly, auto dealerships, vehicle repair shops, automotive testing facilities and private car owners utilize our vehicle movers to easily push or pull vehicles along assembly lines or around crowded lots without the hassle of manually pushing, which can require 2-4 people depending on the vehicle. LAcarGuy loves using the CarCaddy Car Pusher around the dealership.

Aircrafts

The versatility and quality of our aircraft tugs are perfect for any aircraft towing application up to 35,000 lbs. for individual, FBO, or corporate aircraft ground equipment. The AircraftCaddy allows one person to easily move their aircraft in, out and around the hangar or for staging on the ramp in minutes flat. Here’s why Prescott Flying Club loves the AircraftCaddy to maneuver multiple airplanes

WasteCaddy Improves Operational Safety and Efficiency for Miami’s Porsche Design Tower

Over the last several years, DJ Products’ electric WasteCaddy Dumpster Mover has changed the way multifamily and commercial property employees safely relocate waste containers within their facilities. We are pleased to announce that the luxury Miami condominium and hot spot, Porsche Design Tower, has been added to the list of properties to benefit from the WasteCaddy.

Standing at a stately 641 feet tall with 132 luxury condo units, the Porsche Design Tower is one of the tallest and most striking buildings in Florida’s Sunny Isles Beach. The tower’s impressive three automotive elevator systems allow residents to pull into the building’s garage, drive into the modern glass-encased car elevator, and be swiftly transported directly to their condo. Previous to purchasing the WasteCaddy, the Porsche Design Tower utilized two employees to move each facility dumpster by hand from the compactor down to the street for pick-up. Manually pushing the bins multiple times a day and working with limited space created a safety concern. “Now with the WasteCaddy, we only utilize one employee to move the waste bins and it’s a lot safer for him because he doesn’t have to push them and get his hands into the way,” says Alex Carius, General Manager of the Porsche Design Tower.

The Porsche Design Tower staff enjoy the WasteCaddy for its straightforward operation. “When we got the machines, they were really easy to use. They came right off the crate and we were able to use them immediately so no training whatsoever,” says Carius. “We’ve been using the WasteCaddy for about six months now and it’s never failed us. It’s just plug and play, charge it up overnight and then use it – great product.” Porsche Design Tower representatives worked with Eddie Guerra of Canitize USA – a DJ Products’ designated dealer for our WasteCaddy product line, who strongly recommended the WasteCaddy as a perfect solution for the tower. Canitize USA is a fully comprehensive Waste Management Company providing turnkey waste industry solutions for waste equipment purchasing or repairs. Canitize USA, based in Bradenton, Florida has been a trusted DJ Products’ WasteCaddy dealer since 2018 and we are very pleased and grateful for our working partnership. Beyond the Dumpster: Landfills – a Growing Community Problem

Beyond the Dumpster: Landfills - a Growing Community Problem
Beyond the Dumpster: Landfills – a Growing Community Problem

Landfills are a necessary evil that can have a lesser impact if people are careful about what goes inside of them. Gas emissions and poisoned water supplies are the real problems with landfills, far more than just the space they take up.

If responsible waste management were easier, wouldn’t you and your staff be more on board with it? When facilities managers have the proper dumpster moving equipment to make short work of trash day, it’s much easier to recycle and prevent toxic garbage from going to landfills.

Why Are Landfills a Problem?

Sometimes people should argue about where landfills should go, whether waste should cross state lines, and other matters for the bureaucracy. As far as human impact and environmental impact, there are really two reasons why landfills are so bad.

– Greenhouse gas emissions: decomposing materials release methane and carbon dioxide, hurting local air quality and the climate.

– Groundwater contamination: Heavy metals and chemical substances leach toxic compounds into the water supply and bodies of water.

To reduce the gas emissions, add composting bins near existing trash facilities and encourage participation.

To protect waterways from landfill contamination, everyone should avoid throwing away items like electronics, scrap metals, or chemical containers. Recycle them instead, or take them to a special drop-off site.

Dumpster Moving Equipment for Easier Management

Motorized dumpster moving equipment makes garbage duty less time-consuming and physically demanding.

Maintenance staff and building owners alike benefit from the DJ Products WasteCaddy. Easier trash hauling means fewer injuries, lower premiums for workers comp, and less time spent moving dumpsters.

With the right tools, it’s much easier to incorporate a recycling and composting system into your facilities so you can tout your green efforts. Contact DJ Products for a demonstration.

Dumpster Tips: When Is a Dumpster a Better Solution than a Trash Compactor?

When to Know When to Make the Right Decision

Having a place to keep garbage is essential for businesses of all kinds, but what type of trash storage does your company need? Whether your company would do better with a dumpster or trash compactor depends on a few different factors. Keep the following in mind when you need to choose the right trash storage for your business.

Company Budget

The amount of money in your budget is another factor to consider. Keep in mind that you’ll need to include the cost of dumpster moving equipment in your budget if you decide to go with a dumpster. Trash compactors can help you save money, since they don’t need to be emptied as often.

Amount of Garbage

The amount of garbage your company produces on a regular basis is one of the most important factors to consider. Companies that produce smaller or moderate amounts of garbage can use a dumpster to hold it until a local waste hauler empties it, which usually happens once a week or every other week. Companies that produce large amounts of garbage on a regular basis should look into getting a trash compactor. Trash compactors are able to hold more, since they compress the garbage inside them each time they’re filled.

Pest Concerns

If your property has problems with rats, mice, cockroaches or other pests, then you might be better off with a trash compactor. These tend to have tighter seals compared to dumpsters, which helps prevent pests from getting inside.

If you’re interested in dumpster moving equipment for your business, please visit DJ Products. We carry a wide selection of high-quality equipment that can help your business reduce the risk of injuries, save time and cut down on manpower hours.

Hate a Smelly Dumpster – How to Solve the Problem

Ways to Deal with Everybody's Least Favorite Chore - Taking Out the Trash.
Ways to Deal with Everybody’s Least Favorite Chore – Taking Out the Trash.

Most businesses – large or small – have dumpsters. They’ve been around since the 1930s, and they made it so much easier for companies to deal with all their trash. Of course, the need for them has grown over the years as businesses have grown in the United States.

While dumpsters are important, they can also be problematic. No one wants to deal with their smell, but there are ways to combat it. Whether you’re thinking about how to cover it up, or you’re considering investing in dumpster moving equipment, we have some information that can help you solve this problem.

Make Sure Trash is Sealed

All trash should be sealed before it’s tossed in the dumpster; and this includes cardboard, which can become the perfect breeding ground for bacteria when it’s wet. Also, use garbage bags that are no less than 2 mm thick to ensure the bags don’t break.

Air the Dumpster Out Periodically

It’s a good idea to open the side doors and the top of the dumpster daily to air it out. This will help keep moisture to a minimum, but it should only be done during the daylight hours. Airing it out at night will only attract pests.

Avoid Putting Food in the Dumpster

If at all possible, try to avoid putting food in the dumpster. This might seem like an unnecessary change, but food will only attract mice and other animals. Composting is a much better option.

Move it With Dumpster Moving Equipment

Sometimes dumpster placement is the real problem. Dumpster moving equipment is the best way to relocate it. You’ll prevent needless injuries from trying to move it manually, and you’ll save a lot of time in the process.

What Happens When We Run Out of Landfill Space?

Where Does the Trash Go Once Landfills are Full?
Where Does the Trash Go Once Landfills are Full?

How much do you know about what happens to waste once it’s transferred to pick-up with your dumpster moving equipment? Out of 258 million tons of solid waste produced in the United States each year, roughly one-third is recycled while the rest goes to landfills.

Unfortunately, land is a non-renewable resource and the country’s 2,000 landfills are running out of space. How did we reach this point, and what can we do to solve the problem?

An Industry in Crisis

Experts point to two significant factors contributing to dwindling landfill space.

– The amount of waste generated in the U.S., is already the highest in the world, and has been increasing over the last few years.

– China, which once accepted one-sixth of our country’s recyclable material, enacted strict bans at the beginning of 2018. As a result, waste companies have been forced to deposit the spillover in landfills.

According to a report from the Solid Waste Environmental Excellence Protocol (SWEEP), U.S. landfills are projected to reach capacity within 18 years. The situation is particularly dire in the Northeast, while landfills in the West are in slightly better shape.

Solving the Landfill Problem

– Data from the Environmental Protective Agency (EPA) indicates the U.S. currently produces energy by burning 33 million tons of waste per year. That number could rise, but the tradeoff in pollution may be unacceptable.

– More landfills could be created, but the process takes time and often meets resistance from local communities.

– Regulators, manufacturers and consumers can band together to develop more sustainable packaging and be proactive with waste-reduction activities.
