Hospital Turns to DJ Products for Ergonomic Solutions

October 08, 2008 By: CartPro Category: Material Handling, Nursing Homes, Products, Safety and Ergonomics, hospitals

Respect for both its medical personnel and bottom line led a large California hospital to partner with DJ Products. Looking for ways to eliminate potential injuries caused by moving heavy hospital beds, food and linen carts, gurneys and wheeled equipment, this hospital turned to DJ Products for ergonomic solutions that would protect the health and safety of its staff. By implementing an ergonomic program to decrease injuries, the hospital also lowered medical, insurance and workers’ compensation costs. Absenteeism from worker injury and resultant added payroll and overtime expenses necessary to cover those absences also decreased.

Like most medical facilities, this hospital relies not only on paid staff, but also on what is fondly termed the “gray brigade” to function. An army of seniors provides a host of volunteer services to assist the perennially harried staff and enrich the lives of patients. Concern about possible injuries among its aging volunteer force and heavily female medical staff led this hospital to review tasks and procedures and update its equipment with ergonomic cart pullers from DJ Products.

DJ Products is a leader in the manufacture of ergonomic material handling products for the hospital, retail, hospitality, automotive and manufacturing markets. Our CartCaddyLite Cart Puller eliminates the pains and strains that can occur when manually pushing hospital beds, medical equipment and heavy food and linen carts. The battery-powered CartCaddyLite easily maneuvers beds, equipment and carts weighing up to 1500 pounds. Variable speed twist grips allow the operator to travel at speeds of 0 to 3 mph and maneuver forward and backwards in tight hospital rooms and congested corridors. Its compact, batter-operated, 24-volt motor can perform without recharging for an entire shift.

For detailed specifications and to watch a video of the versatile CartCaddyLite Cart Puller in action, visit the DJ Products website. We also make an electric cart pusher for maneuvering heavier carts and equipment up to 20,000 pounds and a versatile powered platform cart for moving heavy boxes and supplies.

SJF Material Handling Checks In

October 03, 2008 By: CartPro Category: Material Handling, Warehousing, logistics

We were delighted to hear from one of our Minnesota brethren this week. Kent Powell of SJF Material Handling, Inc. in Winsted, Minnesota, just a couple of hours down the road from our home office in Little Falls, ran across our blog and dropped us a line.

SJF is a material handling equipment supplier and consultant. For more than 25 years, they’ve been providing new and used material handling equipment from their Minnesota base. Their Genesys division designs and engineers cutting-edge material handling and distribution systems. Services include customized consulting, layout/design, engineering and control programming services for warehousing and distribution-based industries.

You’ll find the SJF Material Handling Blog an interesting read and will want to add it to your list of “favorites.” Their blog focuses in large part on the steel market that provides the raw material for the conveyors, pallets, carousels, rack and other material handling products they sell. It provides readers with another level of insight into the issues that concern our industry today.

DJ Products manufactures ergonomic electric cart pullers and motorized cart pushers for the manufacturing, distribution, warehousing, logistics, automotive, healthcare, hospitality and retail industries. We specialize in ergonomic material handling solutions that eliminate the strain and resultant injury that occurs from manually pushing or pulling carts and wheeled equipment. We’re one interesting cog in the larger material handling wheel, as is SJF Material Handling. We know there are others out there and we want to hear from you.

We invite our readers and others who share our interest in material handling and its applicable industries to share your comments. Alert us to other interesting websites and blogs that we can share with our readers. Drop us a comment if you read an interesting blog post. Share your own experiences or concerns or let us know what you’d like to hear more about. Our goal in creating the DJ Products blog is to share news, information and insights about material handling. We’d love to hear from you. Drop us a line.

Ergonomic Products Will Lead Material Handling Gains in U.S.

September 26, 2008 By: CartPro Category: Automotive Industry, Future Trends, Material Handling, Productivity Tips, Products, Safety and Ergonomics

The material handling industry is on the cusp of a major worldwide growth spurt. Increased automation at home and growing industrialization abroad, particularly in automobile production, are expected to increase worldwide sales of material handling products and systems by 5% a year for the next five years (see our Sept. 22 & 24 posts). Products that maximize worker efforts while decreasing the physical strain on workers will enjoy an ever-increasing share of the market. Particularly in the U.S. where a declining workforce coupled with escalating medical, insurance and workers’ compensation costs will drive a move toward more efficient material handling products, ergonomically-designed equipment and systems are expected to capture an increasing part of the material handling market.

DJ Products is well situated to help you meet the material handling challenges of tomorrow. We manufacture ergonomically-designed material handling carts and tugs designed to maximize work effort and safety. Our energy-efficient electric and battery-powered carts and tugs are less costly, smaller and more maneuverable than the traditional equipment used to move carts and equipment such as forklifts which kill 100 U.S. workers a year and result in 20,000 serious injuries.

All of our products are battery-powered walk-behind units that allow maximum operator control, even in tight, difficult spaces. The flexibility of our ergonomic equipment allows it to be used not only in manufacturing settings, logistics centers and  warehouses, but in hospitals, hotels and motels, and in the retail industry.

We make a number of efficient vehicle pushers for the automotive industry, including some for use on production lines. Our vehicle pushers can be used to push vehicles down and assembly line or move them from station to station. Padded to prevent dents, scratches and cracks, our vehicle movers preserve the paint and integrity of vehicles during production and processing. From our handy car/vehicle pusher to our heavy-duty truck pusher which is capable of moving 10,000 pounds, we make versatile automotive material handling products useful in every aspect of the automotive industry.
